A declassified Cold War-era file from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has gone viral for its bizarre claim of a clash between Soviet soldiers and aliens who descended on the Earth on a UFO, ending with all troops being turned into stone.

After the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the CIA acquired a 250-page KGB report recounting the events that transpired after a Soviet platoon fired at a flying saucer over Ukraine. The file allegedly contained several photographs, drawings and testimonies of the clash, with a CIA agent describing it as “a horrific picture of revenge on the part of extraterrestrial creatures, a picture that makes one’s blood freeze".

Soviet Soldiers Vs Aliens

Citing KGB materials, the CIA file described a low-flying spaceship in the shape of a saucer appearing above a military unit that was conducting routine training manoeuvres sometime during the Cold War. Someone unexpectedly launched a surface-to-air missile, for unknown reasons, and hit the UFO.

The UFO fell to Earth not far away, and five short humanoids with “large heads and large black eyes" emerged from it. Two soldiers who remained alive testified that after freeing themselves from the debris, the aliens came close together and “merged into a single object that acquired a spherical shape".

The shape began to buzz and hiss sharply and became brilliant white. In a span of seconds, the spheres grew much bigger and exploded by flaring up with an extremely bright light. At this moment, 23 soldiers who had been watching turned into “Stone poles", with only two soldiers surviving as they stood in the shade and were less exposed to the luminous explosion.

Where Happened To UFO, Soldiers?

The file mentions that the remains of the UFO and the “petrified soldiers" were transferred to a secret scientific research institution near Moscow, as per the KGB report. Specialists assumed that a source of energy “unknown to earthlings" instantly changed the structure of the living organisms, having transformed it into a substance whose molecular composition was no different “from that of a limestone".

“If the KGB file corresponds to reality, this is an extremely menacing case," the CIA concluded. “The Aliens possess such weapons and technology that go beyond all our assumptions. They can stand up for themselves if attacked."

The CIA document was declassified in 2000 and originally covered by the Canadian Weekly World News and the Ukrainian paper Holos Ukrayiny, but it has remained of interest to UFO aficionados and was even featured on the “The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast last year, according to the New York Post.
