At least 27 Kashmiris have been killed and over 200 injured in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during protests against the Pakistani government and military. Protesters raised slogans against Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, calling him a 'terrorist'. The protests, led by the Joint Awami Action Committee, demand democratic rights, representation, and an end to Islamabad's control. Demonstrations have spread across Muzaffarabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Dadial, Rawalakot, Sudhnoti, and Tattapani. The unrest stems from grievances over demographic changes, high prices of wheat flour and electricity, and the exploitation of natural resources. Protesters are also demanding educational reservations for locals. The Pakistani military and Rangers have responded by firing bullets and tear gas to suppress the protests. Solidarity protests have also been organised by Kashmiris in London.
