Sachdeva called it the Delhi government’s “museum of corruption” while highlighting the luxurious features of the CM house

Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Virendraa Sachdeva on Tuesday gave a tour of the Chief Minister’s residence that once housed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal which he called a “sheesh mahal".

Sachdeva described the Delhi government’s official residence as a “museum of corruption," pointing to the lavish additions to the Chief Minister’s house during its recent renovation, which include a gym-sauna room, Jacuzzi, chandeliers, and other extravagant decor.

He stated, “This is the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ that Arvind Kejriwal tried to conceal from the people of Delhi. We’ve revealed the first video of it. Take a look at the bathroom and gym of this house. There are expensive granite surfaces and top-tier equipment, including a sauna and Jacuzzi, like something from a 7-star resort."

“This is the truth about the black money Kejriwal has hoarded, despite claiming to be a common man. He must explain why he wanted to hide his house and the key to it. This isn’t a CM residence; it’s a museum of corruption. It should be opened to the public. I challenge him to unlock the doors of this palace and tell the people of Delhi how he deceived them. This is a government of scams that has brought shame to Delhi," Sachdeva said.

The Delhi BJP chief shared a video on X offering a tour of the house and detailing the luxurious fittings and fixtures.

“The BJP has been exposing the truth about Arvind Kejriwal, who calls himself a common man but owns the ‘Sheesh Mahal.’ Today, we will show it to you too. He has built a 7-star resort for himself using public funds! Here are the costs: *Marble granite and lighting – Rs 1.9 crore, *Installation and civil work – Rs 1.5 crore, *Gym and spa equipment – Rs 35 lakh. Total = Rs 3.75 crore. These are the same people who swore on their children and falsely promised not to take government housing, cars, or security, yet are looting Delhi’s taxpayers. Meanwhile, the common people of Delhi, living in DDA’s 34 EWS flats, or 15 LIG flats, or owning 150 CNG autos, or 326 E-rickshaws, are left struggling! King of corruption, Kejriwal! Nothing more to say!" Sachdeva posted on X.

The BJP had previously protested against Kejriwal’s “Sheesh Mahal," accusing AAP of using public funds during the COVID-19 period. The BJP alleged that around Rs 45 crore was spent on the “renovation" of Kejriwal’s official residence at 6, Flagstaff Road, in Civil Lines, Delhi.

On October 4, 2024, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal vacated the Flagstaff Road residence and moved to a new location in the Lutyens’ Zone, taking up residence at 5 Ferozeshah Road near Mandi House, an official bungalow assigned to AAP member Ashok Mittal, a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab. Kejriwal had resigned as Chief Minister a month earlier, stating he would only return to office after receiving a “certificate of honesty" from the people of Delhi in the upcoming Assembly elections.
