Mark Mobius: Global leader PM Modi deserves Nobel Peace prize

Ace investor Mark Mobius has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ability to engage with all sides of the political spectrum on a global stage, suggesting that the Indian prime minister deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. In an exclusive interview with news agency IANS, Mobius, 88, highlighted Modi's potential as a peacemaker amid global turbulence, including the West Asia conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war.

Known for pioneering the first emerging markets fund, Mobius described PM Modi as a great leader and human being, emphasising his growing international role. He believes Modi's talent for dialogue with diverse political perspectives positions him as a significant future peacemaker.

Asserting that Modi is highly deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize, Mobius cited the country's neutrality and fairness as key factors, while adding that that India is well-placed to mediate for global peace, with Modi being particularly qualified for this role.

Despite India's neutral stance in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Modi has consistently advocated for peaceful resolutions, reinforcing India's commitment to stability. His visit to Ukraine in August, the first by an Indian PM since 1992, underscored India's active peace efforts in the region.

When asked about similarities between himself and Modi, Mobius mentioned their shared forward-looking perspective and optimism about global developments.
