While Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is leading with 246 electoral college votes, Democrat Kamala Harris is trailing with 187 votes in the race to the White House.

A candidate needs 270 out of the available 538 electoral votes to be declared the winner.

The seven swing states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — hold key to deciding who will be the next American president. They account for 93 electoral votes of the total 538 votes.

THE PROJECTIONS FOR DONALD TRUMP

The Associated Press has predicted a win for Trump in the key state of North Carolina.

According to the AP, Trump is leading in Arizona (which has 11 electoral votes), Georgia (16), Pennsylvania (19), Michigan (15) and Wisconsin (10).

Winning these states would give Trump 71 electoral votes. With the addition of 230, it would mean 301 votes, thus surpassing the 270 figure.

THE PROJECTIONS FOR KAMALA HARRIS

Harris is leading in Minnesota (10), Maine (2), and New Hampshire (4). If she wins these states, it will bring her total to 226 total votes.

The Vice-President has won California (54), Virginia, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oregon, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington DC and Maine’s first congressional district.

Counting is yet to start in Nevada, which has six electoral votes, Alaska (3), and Hawaii (4). A win in these states would still only add 13 votes for Harris.
