Canadian police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a shooting incident outside the home of Punjabi singer AP Dhillon in Colwood, British Columbia.
Abjeet Kingra, from Winnipeg, faces charges of discharging a firearm with intent and arson after shots were fired and two vehicles were set on fire on September 30, according to CBC. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) reported that Kingra was arrested in Ontario and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
Another suspect, 23-year-old Vikram Sharma, is believed to have fled to India. An arrest warrant has been issued for him on similar charges. Police have released his details to help identify him, as they do not have a photograph. The shooting occurred in September, shortly after Dhillon released a music video featuring Bollywood actor Salman Khan, with whom the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has a known rivalry.
The gang has allegedly threatened Dhillon, warning him to “stay within his limits." Earlier this year, an RCMP spokesperson told CBC News that they could not provide any information on the gang’s ties to the shooting at Dhillon’s home. “We are aware of the claims that are circulating online, and though we cannot provide further details, the file remains very active," Cpl. Alex Berube was quoted as saying by the Canadian outlet.
