Prince William recently reflected on how a trip to a shelter home for homeless people in England shaped his work in combating homelessness. The Prince of Wales is releasing a documentary titled Prince William: We Can End Homelessness and in that documentary photos are featured where the young prince, not yet a teenager, is seen with mother Princess Diana and younger brother Prince Harry.
The first year of @HomewardsUK has been all about building the foundations for success across our six locations, generating unprecedented partnerships and making real change.Prince William: We Can End Homelessness comes to @ITV and @ITVX at 9pm on 30th and 31st October. pic.twitter.com/pFXnN15JUX

“My mother took me to The Passage; she took Harry and I both there. I’d never been to anything like that before, and I was a bit anxious as to what to expect,” Williams says in a newly released clip from the documentary.
The documentary filmed over a year shows the early stages of Prince William’s Homewards initiative. This program was launched by the prince and his Royal Foundation in June 2023. Homewards is a five-year project in six key locations across the UK. The aim is to prove that it is possible to end homelessness.
The series is directed by BAFTA winner Leo Burley. It features the personal stories of people who are currently homeless or have experienced homelessness in the past.
Prince William has been a long-time advocate for homelessness issues.
He also remembered fondly how his mother put everyone at ease by ‘having a laugh and joking with everyone’ and his time playing chess with people living in the shelter.
“I remember having some good conversations just playing chess and chatting. That’s when it dawned on me that there are other people out there who don’t have the same life as you do,” he said in the clip.
