In a rare public gesture, Prince William acknowledged his estranged brother Prince Harry by sharing a heartfelt childhood memory featuring them.

The moment will be highlighted in his upcoming ITV documentary, Prince William: We Can End Homelessness. In a segment that has been released, William recalls a visit organised by their late mother, Princess Diana, who took him and Harry to The Passage, a charity dedicated to aiding people experiencing homelessness.

The documentary, set to air on October 30 and 31 on ITV in the UK, delves into William's lifelong passion for supporting those affected by homelessness — a cause first introduced to him by his late mother.

"My mother took me to The Passage; she took Harry and I both there. I must have been 11 at the time, maybe 10," he recalled. "I had never been to anything like that before, and I was a bit anxious about what to expect".

Willam described how his mother’s warmth and approach made a strong impact. "My mother went about her usual, making everyone feel relaxed, having a laugh and joking with everyone. I remember thinking, 'Well, if everyone doesn't have a home, they're all going to be really sad'. But it was incredible how happy an environment it was," he said.

He explained that the experience changed his view of the world, opening his eyes to different lives. "I remember having some good conversations, playing chess, chatting, and that's when it dawned on me that there were other people out there who don't have the same life as you do," William said.

"When you're quite small, you just think life is what you see in front of you. It's when you meet people, as I did then, who put a different perspective in your head and say, 'Well, I was living on the street last night,’ and you’re like, 'Woah'. I remember that happening," he added.

The documentary marks the first time that Prince William has spoken publicly about his brother, amid reports of ongoing tension. Over the summer, reports suggested that the relationship between the brothers remained strained but potentially mendable.

A point of contention arose when Prince Harry requested enhanced security for his family during visits to the UK, leading to further discord with the royal family.

Complicating matters, sources told Page Six that King Charles had reportedly ceased communication with Harry, despite Harry's attempts to check on his father's health following reports of a cancer diagnosis.

A royal insider shared with Page Six that reconciliation between father and son could depend on granting Harry the additional security measures he has sought for years. "As the monarch, he is the ultimate decision-maker. That would be how father and son can reconcile," the source said.

Several media reports also claim that the Duke of Sussex will not be invited when Prince William becomes the king of the United Kingdom.
