Send them to a small rally: Kamala Harris amid boos by Trump supporters

The Democratic candidate for the US presidential election, Kamala Harris, faced heckling and boos from alleged Donald Trump supporters who disrupted her rally in Houston in Texas on Friday. Vice President Harris could be seen trying to calm the crowd as she stood up to address the rally in the final stretch of her campaign.

As the interruptions continued, Harris responded, saying, "Just send them to do a small rally down the street. It’ll be fun. Some people don’t have a great sense of direction. That’s okay."

Her supporters rallied behind her, breaking into supportive chants as Harris resumed her address in the largely Republican state. According to reports, a man was escorted out of the rally by security.

Meanwhile, pop star Beyonce joined Harris at the abortion rights-themed Houston rally, marking her first public political appearance this election cycle, and endorsed the Democratic presidential candidate.

Instead of singing, she addressed the crowd for several minutes. Beyonce said, "I'm not here as a celebrity. I'm not here as a politician. I'm here as a mother...Your freedom is your God-given right, your human right".

She added, “It’s time to sing a new song. A song that began 248 years ago. The old notes of downfall, discord, despair no longer resonate. Our moment right now".

Harris, who addressed the rally after Beyonce, said “momentum is on our side".

“So to all the friends here, let us remember: momentum is on our side. I know sometimes in Texas folks are like, ‘Is it worth it? Is it? Does it make a difference?’. Yes, it does".

Texas hasn't backed a Democratic president since 1976, and Republican candidate Donald Trump is almost certain to win the state's 40 electoral college votes.
