With less than a week until the 2024 US presidential election, celebrities—ranging from musicians and actors to athletes and social media influencers—are playing a crucial role in endorsing the candidacies of Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. But will their star power significantly influence voter choices?
Experts suggest that celebrity endorsements often do little to sway voter opinion, with polls indicating that only a small fraction of the electorate remains undecided as the November 5 vote approaches, as per AFP report.
However, appearances by big names at campaign events can generate headlines and energise key voter demographics, potentially boosting turnout and encouraging early voting.
Harris boasts a formidable lineup of Hollywood supporters, including Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Eminem, Lizzo, and Usher. In contrast, Trump has a smaller but notable group of endorsers, including Elon Musk, The Rock, Waka Flocka Flame, and Hulk Hogan.
