Apple and Samsung continue to rule the smartphone market globally and now we are seeing 5G phones take over the segment.

Apple continues to be the market leader with its iPhone sales in the past few quarters showing its strong position in the segment. If the Q1 2023 was all about value-for-money offerings from the company, 12 months later, Apple is seeing its most-expensive iPhone 15 model top the charts. That’s right, iPhone 15 Pro Max is the most-selling phone in Q1 2024 as per the latest reports.

Counterpoint Research’s Global Monthly Handset Model Sales Tracker clearly shows us that the top four selling smartphones in the market during the period were iPhones. As for the Android presence in the top 10, Apple only faces a tough fight from Samsung which shows the strong value and image of these two brands in the market.

Top 10 Best-Selling Smartphones In Q1 2024

– iPhone 15 Pro Max

– iPhone 15

– iPhone 15 Pro

– iPhone 14

– Galaxy S24 Ultra

– Galaxy A15 5G

– Galaxy A54

– iPhone 15 Plus

– Galaxy S24

– Galaxy A34

As you can see from the list here, the iPhone 15 series covers up the majority of the top 10 list, which even includes the less-popular iPhone 15 Plus model. The 15 Pro Max doing so well suggests people were not deterred by the higher price and happy to pay extra for the advanced features. Apple is planning for a big AI upgrade in 2024 with the iPhone 16 lineup which could further add to the company’s swelling coffers.

Samsung will also feel pleased to see the Galaxy S24 Ultra and S24 models make it to the top 10, albeit in the fifth and ninth position. The other notable thing from the list is that all the 10 models are 5G-enabled, which is a first in the market and only going to get bigger in the years to come.
