Apple seems to have cut down on the shipment of Vision Pro headset less than 6 months since its launch but the company has found other buyers.

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook at the company’s Q2 earnings call recently revealed that almost half of the Future 100 companies had purchased their high-tech Apple Pro Vision Headset, which the company launched last year along with the iPhone 15 models. But, he didn’t mention the exact figures of their augmented reality headset, as per Phone Arena.

For the unversed, the Fortune 100 companies are a list of the top 100 companies in the United States which are ranked by their revenue.

Recently, several reports claimed that the Vision Pro headset appears to be facing a major setback and Apple is cutting shipments of the gadget for the upcoming year due to low demand among users. The tech giant had initially set its sights on delivering almost 800,000 units of Vision Pro headset. However, as per recent reports, Apple has reduced its production to 400,000 units for this year.

Once lauded as a ground-breaking piece of technology, the Apple Vision Pro now seems to be losing its sparkle in the eyes of customers. The demand for the product seems to have gone down much earlier than expected.

The Apple Vision Pro headset was priced at 3499 USD, which seemed to be the major reason that the device failed to garner traction. After facing low demand from consumers, the company is reportedly in two minds about launching an affordable mixed-reality headset somewhere in 2025 but can push ahead.

The Apple Vision Pro was launched in June last year. The device uses eyes and hand movements for navigation. It also includes Apple’s first 3D camera, for capturing videos and pictures and also can serve as a personal movie theatre.

Earlier, Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg carried out a comparison between his Quest 3 headset and the Apple Vision Pro headset and concluded that the Meta product was better. Mark also pointed out the major price difference between the two devices. Where Apple Vision Pro is priced at 3499 USD, Quest 3 on the other hand was seven times less expensive with a price of 499.99 USD.

In a video posted on Instagram, Mark said, “Honestly, I am surprised that Quest is so much better for the vast majority of things that people use these headsets for, with that price differential.”
