'Ditched Schools For Liquor Shops': BJP MP Manoj Tiwari’s Fresh Salvo At Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari on Friday accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was sent to Tihar Jail after a court remanded him in judicial custody in the Delhi Excise policy case, of promoting alcohol among the youth.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi along with Delhi BJP chief Virender Sachdeva, he said, “Arvind Kejriwal tumhe kholni toh thi pathshala tumne khol di madhushala (ditched building schools for liquor shops),” adding that he was sent to jail as Delhi’s mothers had cursed him for promoting alcohol.

He had started as an education reformist but went on to make liquor available for youngsters easily.

“It seems that the BJP will have to bring a white paper on Delhi’s liquor scam and I believe that we will do that to make everything crystal clear. Firstly, they looted Delhi and then spent approximately Rs 25 crore to fight the liquor policy case from the government fund. They require Rs 100 crore more for this,” he said.

Jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday moved a city court urging it to allow him to spend more time with his lawyer in order to prepare for cases pending against him in several parts of the country. Kejriwal moved the application claiming that two meetings every week with his lawyer, as permitted by the court, was not sufficient since he was facing multiple cases in various states and needed more time for consultation. The AAP leader urged the court to increase the number of meetings to five per week.

The application is likely to come up for hearing before special judge for ED cases Kaveri Baweja on Friday. The court had on April 1 sent Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15 in the money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam.

The ED has accused the AAP leader of being involved in the “entire conspiracy of Delhi liquor scam, in drafting and implementation of the policy, for favouring and benefiting from the quid pro, receiving kickbacks and eventually using part of proceeds of crime generated out of the scheduled offence in the election campaign for Goa Assembly elections”.
