From one cat parent to another: Tim Walz reacts to Taylor Swift's post on live TV

Taylor Swift, one of the most celebrated pop-culture icons in the US, endorsed Kamala Harris and her running mate Time Walz for the upcoming presidential election. Tim Walz was on air when Swift made a social media post and his reaction to the endorsement was captured on camera.

Walz showed a myriad of emotions as he listened to what Swift said, before he mouthed “wow”. The interviewer read the entirety of Taylor Swift's Instagram post and as she got to the part where the pop megastar endorsed Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, Tim Walz patted his chest and appeared touched by the singer’s words.

“I am incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift. I say that also as a fellow cat owner. That was eloquent and that's the type of courage we need in America to stand up. We have seen it out of the Republicans who were at Democratic Convention. We have seen it out of women who would like to keep their personal lives personal but are forced to go out there because they nearly died as they can't get abortion services. And now we have someone like Taylor Swift coming out and making that very clear," Walz said.

Taylor Swift’s endorsement came on Tuesday (US time) after Kamala Harris’s debate against Republican rival Donald Trump. She told her 280 million followers on Instagram that she will vote for Harris in the November 5 election.

“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift said.

“I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” she said.

Swift added, “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered!”

Swift then took a dig at JD Vance over remarks he had previously made about women and children. She signed off her social media post, which included a picture of her with a cat, with “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady".

Tim Walz, while thanking Swift for her support, did not forget to add that his words of gratitude were also “as a fellow cat owner”.

He also had something to say to Taylor Swift’s fans, or Swifties as they are called.

"This would be the opportunities, Swifties, KamalaHarris.com. Get on over there, give us a hand and get things going," Walz said.
