Ava Kris Tyson, a co-host on popular YouTuber MrBeast’s channel, has announced her departure from the platform amid allegations of grooming a minor. Tyson, 28, quit after he faced accusations of sending inappropriate messages to a then-13-year-old when she was 20 years old.
In a statement posted on ‘X’, Tyson said, “I would like to apologise for any of my past behaviour or comments if it hurt or offended anyone. It was not my intent.” She added, “Seeing recent events we’ve mutually decided it’s best I permanently step away from all things MrBeast and social media to focus on my family and mental health.”

‘Just made a few edgy jokes’
The teen at the center of the accusations, now 20 years old, came to Tyson’s defence saying, “Ava never did anything wrong and just made a few edgy jokes. I was never exploited or taken advantage of.” Tyson acknowledged making off-colour comments in the past and apologised to anyone she may have hurt with her “unacceptable social media posts” and “past actions.”
Tyson, who came out as a transgender woman last year, faced transphobic attacks online following her announcement. MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, defended Tyson last month against accusations from streamer Nickmercs that she had abandoned her 4-year-old son, Tucker, “to play pretend.” MrBeast wrote on X that Tyson is “literally always with her kid and doesn’t even go on shoots [so that she can] spend more time with him.”
Tyson co-parents her son with ex-wife Katie, from whom she separated in 2022. In her statement, Tyson stressed that she does not want these allegations to impact the hundreds of people working at MrBeast’s YouTube channel, which has over 300 million subscribers, more than any other channel on the platform.
According to US media reports, the allegations against Tyson were made in a 45-minute video posted online in June by the account Prism42. The video claimed Tyson sent a Snapchat message to the then-minor of her face with the text, “C–ming for America.” However, Lava has denied the allegations made in the video, writing on X, “These videos are massive lies and twisting the truth.”
