18-year-old was recording a TikTok video with his friends with a gun stolen from a police station in Faridpur.

An 18-year-old named Palash Hossain was fatally shot while he and three friends were recording a TikTok video with weapons stolen from a police station in Sadarpur, Faridpur.

According to Prothom Alo, a news website based in Bangladesh, the incident occurred on August 6, in a room at his grandfather’s house.

Palash succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka at around 6 am on Monday.

Palash was the son of Mosharraf Hossain, who owns a food hotel in Atarshi village, Sadarpur upazila. He did not attend school and worked at his father’s hotel in Atarshi Mor.

According to neighbours and villagers, on the morning of August 6, Palash was working at his father’s hotel when two of his friends, both Class XI students at Sadarpur Government College, called him out.

They later went to Palash’s maternal uncle Muslim Matubbar’s house in Arai Rashi village, within the same union.

On August 5, the three had obtained a shotgun stolen from the Sadarpur police station and decided to make TikTok videos in a room at the house. While recording, they began pretending to aim the weapon at each other’s heads. Tragically, they accidentally fired the gun, and the bullet struck Palash in the head. He battled for his life for six days and passed away on August 12.

After hearing the sound of gunshot, his family rushed out of the room to find Palash in a bloody state.
