Three members of an Indian-origin family -- Arvind Mani, 45, his wife Pradeepa Arvind, 40, and their child Andril Arvind, 17 -- were killed in a car crash in Texas, US. The car crash took place when a 2004 Cadillac travelling southbound experienced a rear tyre blowout, causing it to lose control and drift into oncoming traffic. The Cadillac car then collided head-on with a Kia Telluride car, which was driven by Mani.

The family was en route to the University of Texas at Dallas, where Andril was about to begin his studies in computer science.

Their 14-year-old son, Adiryan Arvind, who had just started 9th grade and was not on the trip, is now left without his family, according to the GoFundMe page, an online fundraising platform.

The crash occurred early Wednesday morning, August 14.

The Cadillac, driven by Jacinto Gudino Duran, 31, from Copperas Cove, Texas, was speeding before the accident, reported CBS Austin. The blowout led to the vehicle veering into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with the Kia Telluride at milepost 406.

All five individuals involved, including both drivers and passengers, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The family's planned day of excitement turned into a tragedy.

14-YEAR-OLD LEFT WITHOUT FAMILY

Adiryan Arvind, 14, the younger son of Arvind Mani and Pradeepa, is left alone in the family.

"This young boy, with so many dreams and aspirations, needs our help for funeral, legal, and ongoing care including educational expenses. This will help him to navigate the difficult road ahead along with his uncle’s family living in Austin," according to the GoFundMe page.
