A 33-year-old Indian-origin woman, Jaskirat Kaur, has admitted to killing her 10-year-old daughter, Shay Kang, who was found dead at their home in Rowley Regis, West Midlands, England, in March. Kaur, who is also known as Jasmine Kang, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility during a hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on October 25.

During the brief hearing, which Kaur attended via video link, she spoke only to confirm her name.

"Kaur, 33, denied murdering her daughter but prosecution counsel Sally Howes KC said her guilty plea to manslaughter was acceptable to the Crown," the Shropshire Star reported.

Kaur's defence lawyer, Katherine Goddard, stated that there was "no dispute over the facts" of the case, and the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that Kaur's guilty plea to manslaughter was acceptable to the prosecution.

10-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER STABBED TO DEATH

Shay Kang was discovered dead at the family's home in Rowley Regis on March 4.

A postmortem examination revealed that Shay died from stab wounds to the chest. This was confirmed during an inquest at the Black Country coroner's court in March.

The death of the young girl prompted an outpouring of grief from the local community. Shay's school, Brickhouse Primary School, described her as a "bright, happy, fun-loving child" who would be "very sadly missed by everyone".

In response to the tragedy, parents of children who attended the same school set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help cover Shay's funeral expenses.

"She didn’t deserve this at all, and the best we can do is make sure she flies high in the most beautiful way," The fundraiser page reads.

West Midlands Police confirmed that they are not seeking any other suspects in connection with the case.
