Joe Biden's latest gaffe: Israel's Haifa is Gaza's Rafah

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday (local time) made yet another gaffe when he mixed up the Israeli port city of Haifa with that of Rafah, a city in southern Gaza, which is the last stronghold of Hamas.

The 81-year-old president made the gaffe during a one-on-one interview with Nexstar Media’s Reshad Hudson when he was asked how he plans to win back pro-Palestinian voters following Israel's offensive against Hamas in Gaza.

"I’ve been meeting with them, number one. Number two, I made it clear that we have to vastly increase the amount of food, water, healthcare going into Gaza. And I made it clear to Israelis – don’t move on Haifa. It's just not..." Biden said in a viral video while confusing the Israeli city with Rafah.

Israel has signalled its plan to attack Rafah, where over one million people who fled other parts of Gaza during the war, reside. The planned move has sparked concerns among Israel's allies, including the US, and has warned against proceeding further to avoid more civilian casualties.

Haifa, a popular tourist destination, is Israel's third-largest city and is situated in the northern part of the country. Haifa is just over 180 kilometres from Rafah.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Biden has made such a gaffe.

While speaking about his administration's efforts to tackle inflation in the country, Biden said in March, "We have the lowest inflation rates of any country in America."

In March, a video of Biden mistakenly saying that the US would be airdropping food and supplies into 'Ukraine' instead of Gaza City went viral.

Biden, in February, momentarily confused Hamas with the term "opposition" when asked about ongoing hostage negotiations with Israel, but quickly corrected himself.

Biden, the oldest US President, is set to face 77-year-old Republican Donald Trump in a re-match of the 2020 election on November 5.

Despite concerns over his advancing age, Biden is still going ahead with his presidential campaign and has insisted that he is doing well.
