The announcement of Ladla Bhai Yojana is being linked to the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections which are scheduled to be held later this year.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday announced a new scheme called the ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ for youths who have passed the 12th examination in the state.

Under this scheme, students who have completed their 12th grade will receive Rs 6,000 per month. Additionally, those with a diploma will be given Rs 8,000 monthly, while graduates will be provided with Rs 10,000 each month.

“Rs 6,000 will be given to those who passed Class 12; Rs 8,000 for those with ITI and diploma qualifications, and Rs 12,000 per month for those with a graduate degree,” Shinde announced during a public event in Pandharpur on Tuesday.

Maharashtra CM emphasised that under this scheme, young job seekers will receive apprenticeships in factories, with the government providing them with a stipend.

The Ladla Bhai Yojana is similar to the government’s Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, which was announced in the state budget assembly by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar last month. Under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, eligible women aged 21 to 60 receive an allowance of Rs 1,500 per month from the state government.

However, despite the similarities, Shinde clarified that the ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ is not exclusively for men, while the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is for women, India Today reported.

The announcement of the scheme comes as the state prepares for the upcoming assembly elections, which are scheduled to be held later this year.
