Pakistan To Employ Cats To Hunt Rats Inside Its Parliament, Prepares Rs1.2 Million Budget

A Pakistani civic agency noted that there has been an increase in the presence of rats in the Parliament House.

Pakistani civic agency, the Capital Development Authority (CDA), said that it will employ hunting cats to catch the rats that have caused havoc in the Parliament House and has set aside a budget of Rs 1.2 million for this pest control exercise, Geo News said in a report.

The report highlighted that a budget was assigned because of “increased presence of the problematic mammals in the building”, referring to the rats and hunting cats, which are known as rat-eaters, will be used to hunt them down.

Pakistani media outlets reported that rat infestation in the Pakistani Parliament has emerged as a major issue and the rat population in the Parliament House has grown.

They said that special mesh traps will also be installed and added that the rat population has grown because of the infested ceilings.

Rats inside the Pakistan Parliament are said to have damaged different departments of the Pakistani senate and the Pakistani Assembly (NA).

Parliament officials have said rats have gnawed at files in many offices of the parliament. The CDA is also planning to rope in experts from the private sector to eliminate these rats.
