Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended a heartfelt reception to his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi. Chinh is on a three-day state visit to India.

The formal welcome took place at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday, where the two leaders embraced warmly before Chinh was honoured with a ceremonial Guard of Honour.

Chinh’s visit, which began on July 30 and concludes today, marks a significant moment in India-Vietnam relations.

The ceremonial proceedings were attended by key Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel, and Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal.

Following the ceremonial welcome, Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Chinh engaged with officials from both delegations to discuss matters of mutual interest.

Accompanied by a high-profile delegation featuring several ministers, deputy ministers, and prominent business leaders, Chinh also paid his respects at Raj Ghat, honouring the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.

The agenda for Chinh’s visit includes bilateral talks with Modi and a luncheon hosted by the Indian Prime Minister. The Vietnamese leader also met President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar during his stay.

Yesterday, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar met Vietnamese PM Pham Minh and “appreciated” his guidance on India-Vietnam bilateral ties.

Chinh arrived in Delhi on Tuesday night on a three-day visit that is aimed at further expanding the comprehensive strategic ties between the two countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold extensive talks with his Vietnamese counterpart on Thursday.
