UK Man Held Captive Inside Dirty Caravan For 26 Years, To Receive Compensation of Rs 3.75 Crore

A man who was held captive by a wealthy family for over two decades inside a filthy caravan in UK’s Lincolnshire was awarded 352,000 pounds (Rs 3.75 crore approx) as compensation.

As per media reports, he was enslaved and was held captive by the Rooneys and was subjected to unimaginable cruelty. The man, who was known as ‘Victim A’ was forced to live in dirty caravans on the family’s traveller site in Lincolnshire.

The family is known for allegedly running this torturous regime for more than twenty years now, where they would subject vulnerable homeless men to severe exploitation. Some of them were beaten up while they worked for meagre or no wages and were kept in pathetic conditions while neglecting their basic requirements.

Some were even told that they would be killed if they refused to comply with their demands, the Metro reported.

Before this, fifteen other men died after enduring immense torture and pain and without being given their due justice. Amidst all this suffering, the Rooney family had amassed a wealth of more than 1.5 million pounds.

Media reports have also claimed that eleven members of this family were imprisoned in 2017 for a combined 79 years for their crimes.

The 352,000 pounds compensation is to be paid to Victim A and it will contribute in some way towards looking at his financial security, enabling him to receive the necessary care. However, this in no way can be held to remove the years of torment that all the victims had suffered at the hands of their captors.
