A US man, who forced his 6-year-old ‘fat’ son to run on a speeding treadmill leading to his death, was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Friday. The child died on April 2, 2021 of chronic abuse.

The man was sentenced to 20 years for aggravated manslaughter and five years for child endangerment.

The 31-year-old Christopher Gregor was captured in a shocking video played in court that showed him forcing the child, Corey Micciolo, to run on a treadmill at high speed as punishment on March 20, 2021.

As he was handed the stiff sentence, Gregor said that he did nothing to kill the boy, reported the New York Times.

“I want to assure you that on April 2, I did nothing to cause Corey’s passing. I didn’t hurt my son. I loved him and I still do. I regret not bringing him to the hospital sooner. I didn’t know how sick he was. I didn’t know. I just thought he was tired,” Gregor said.

The video showed the father increasing the speed on the treadmill, causing the child to fly off and fall six times.

Two weeks later, on April 2, Corey woke up from a nap nauseated, stumbling around and slurring his words.

The injuries were so severe that the boy suffered a seizure during a CT scan, forcing medical staff to take emergency measures.

However, the staffers failed, and the child was pronounced dead shortly after.

Christopher Gregor was arrested in July 2021 on child neglect charges. "Specifically by having (Corey) run on a treadmill and increasing the speed, causing (Corey) to fall, placing (him) back on the moving treadmill while appearing to bite his head, causing the said child to fall several more times," an arrest warrant read.

Corey's death was determined to be a homicide in September 2021 following a forensic pathologist's finding that the six-year-old suffered from "chronic abuse" including blunt force wounds on his chest and abdomen with a laceration on his heart, left pulmonary contusion, and laceration and contusion of his liver.
