As Kamala Harris's campaign for the US presidential election intensifies, an Indian-American leader has released a Bollywood-inspired campaign song to garner support from the South Asian community for the Indian-origin candidate.

The song, titled 'Nacho Nacho', was released by Ajay Bhutoria, a member of the Finance Committee for Harris for President. It aims to energise nearly five million South Asian voters in key states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona, according to a statement.

The 1.5-minute video showcases glimpses from Kamala Harris's campaign, featuring a Hindi song titled Hamari Ye Kamala Harris. The song includes a rendition of the popular 'Naatu Naatu' track from the movie 'RRR,' rephrased as 'Nacho Nacho.'

Produced by Ritesh Parikh and performed by Shibani Kashyap, the song also includes messages from community leaders in Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Hindi.

According to Bhutoria, Vice President Kamala Harris represents a "brighter future" for Indian-Americans" and to "turn the page on the division of Donald Trump".

"She is a symbol of hope and representation for more than 4.4 million Indian Americans. We are using Bollywood music to unite and engage our community in this critical election," Bhutoria was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

He also has plans to release more Bollywood music videos to drive voter turnout for Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.

"We will be producing more content to ensure South Asian voters are fully mobilised. In 2020, our Bollywood-based campaign videos went viral, and this year, we will make sure every South Asian vote counts," he stated.
