Apple has come out with an ad that claims 128GB is a lot of storage
Apple buyers still have to live with a base 128GB iPhone model which doesn't really add up with all the high-tech camera features available.
Apple continues to sell the iPhones with the base variant offering 128GB storage, even after all the high-tech camera features that the iPhones have these days.
Most people don’t agree with Apple’s decision to offer 128GB as the base tier but the company has now gone one step further, by claiming that 128GB is plenty enough to store a lot of photos. Apple has come out with an ad to stake its claim on the ‘lot of storage’ comment.
The 30-second clip has a man looking to delete some of his photos from the iPhone to make space for other photos, because he has run out of space (surprise, surprise). But then Apple adds a cheeky message saying, iPhone 15 has “lots of storage for lots of photos.”
Apple made the big change by ditching the 64GB iPhone model and starting the lineup with 128GB option four years back which is a lot of time in the tech circuit. Since then, Apple has launched new iPhones that continue to get big camera upgrades, making photos bigger in size than before.
So, the fact that Apple still feels 128GB storage is a lot of storage, doesn’t stand true anymore, especially if you are only relying on the physical iPhone storage to keep your data, rather than spending the extra buck to buy some space on iCloud or Google cloud storage.
You could also say that some iPhone buyers would happily delete photos to make space for new ones, but why not just make 256GB the default iPhone model, and be happy that you can make more money from the consumers?
It’s not like Apple doesn’t realise the need to up the ante with the storage games for iPhone users, after all, the iPhone Pro variants these days start with 256GB as the base storage model. We’re hoping the change is coming this year when the iPhone 16 series rolls out around September, or at least give additional iCloud storage to keep them happy and on their side rather than forcing them to jump ship to Android.
