TikTok influencer Chrystofer A. Whyte, 18, was fatally shot at a New Jersey beach. Police arrested two suspects, including a juvenile charged with murder.

Popular TikTok influencer Chrystofer A. Whyte, 18, was fatally shot at a beach in New Jersey last month. Whyte, who had more than 100,000 followers on the social media platform, was found with a single gunshot wound and died at the scene.
The Long Branch Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at Pier Village in Long Branch at around 8.58 pm on 12 June. Officers discovered Whyte, from North Brunswick, suffering from his injuries and confirmed his death shortly afterwards, New York Post reported.
Since then, police have arrested two men connected to the shooting. One is a juvenile, whose name is being withheld due to his age, and who faces several charges including murder. He is currently held at a juvenile detention centre.
The other suspect, 18-year-old Dwayne Exilus from Woodbridge, has been charged with multiple offences, including second-degree conspiracy to commit unlawful possession of a weapon.
Earlier on the day of the shooting, Whyte had posted two videos on TikTok under his username hi.imchrys. One video contained a message warning his followers to “stay away from people that ignore you until they need you".
The other showed Whyte sitting on a beach chair, with the location tagged as Long Branch. This was his final post before his tragic death.
Aside from his success on social media, Whyte was also a student athlete. He played football and wrestled for Woodbridge High School. His former football coach, Joseph LaSala, paid tribute to him after the news broke, saying, “Chrys was an unbelievable kid. He brought energy and enthusiasm every day. He was respectful, focused, and a joy to coach. This is heartbreaking."
The investigation into Whyte’s death is currently underway.
