The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that a male juvenile is in custody, however, they did not disclose his age. Deputies were alerted just before 12:30 am when around 30 to 40 young people were seen running and screaming from the party.
Several people witnessed a fight in the street before gunshots were fired, causing chaos in the area. Vehicles became stuck, and people fled the spot.
When deputies reached the spot, they performed lifesaving measures on one man at the site, but he was later pronounced dead. Five others went to local hospitals on their own, and one of them later succumbed to his injuries.
The remaining four victims, aged 16 to 21, suffered serious injuries but are expected to recover.
