Hafiz Talha Saeed, son of 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, delivered a provocative speech at a rally in Lahore on Pakistan’s so-called 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' on February 5, demanding release of his jailed father and vowed to "liberate Kashmir from India at any cost."

Addressing the gathering, Talha launched a scathing attack on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a "shaitan"(devil).

He further dismissed the global designation of LeT as a terrorist organisation, claiming it was merely "Modi's propaganda" to malign his father.

Talha also demanded that the Pakistani government review its policy and release Hafiz Saeed from prison. The crowd and those on stage echoed his demand, chanting slogans in support of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) founder.

"Hafiz Saeed is not guilty; why is he suffering in jail?" Talha questioned, attempting to justify his father’s actions.

HAFIZ SAEED’S TERROR LINKS AND GLOBAL SANCTIONS

Hafiz Saeed, the founder of LeT and Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), has been a key figure in orchestrating terrorist attacks against India, including 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

He was sentenced to 78 years in prison in multiple terror financing cases in Pakistan, with an additional 31-year sentence handed down in 2022.

In 2012, the United States announced a $10 million bounty for information leading to Saeed’s arrest. Both the US and the United Nations have designated LeT and JuD as terrorist organizations, banning their operations.

TALHA SAEED’S POLITICAL FAILURE IN 2024 ELECTIONS

Despite global pressure, Pakistan has continued to provide a platform for extremist elements.

In the 2024 Pakistani general elections, Talha Saeed contested from Lahore’s NA-122 constituency. He was fielded by Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), a party backed by his father Hafiz Saeed.

However, he suffered a humiliating defeat, securing only 2,041 votes and finishing sixth.
