At least four people were killed after a man opened fire in a market area near Thailand’s capital city, Bangkok, on Monday. Multiple reports suggested the incident happened at the Or Tor Kor markets in the city’s Chatuchak district.

Videos widely shared on social media claimed to show the shooter on the spot, as a man could be seen walking around holding a gun in his hand.

However, News18 could not independently verify the video.

There was no information on whether he was arrested, while some reports claimed he shot himself dead following the act.

On Friday, a 14-year-old boy was killed in a shooting incident at the dormitory of the University of New Mexico.

The incident prompted the evacuation of hundreds of students and a campuswide search for the suspect, who has since been taken into custody.

University officials lifted a shelter-in-place order later that day, saying there was still an active investigation and that the main campus in Albuquerque would remain closed.

They said students were allowed to eat at the dining hall and return to their dorms, but otherwise should avoid the crime scene.

THE THAILAND-CAMBODIA DISPUTE

Locked in a border dispute, Thailand and Cambodia on Sunday signalled their readiness to negotiate an end to the clashes following mediation efforts by US President Donald Trump, the Associated Press reported.

The fighting has killed at least 33 people and displaced more than 168,000.

Trump posted on Truth Social on Saturday that he spoke to the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia and suggested he would not move forward with trade agreements with either country if the hostilities continued.

He later said both sides agreed to meet to negotiate a ceasefire.
