Tech billionaire Elon Musk, whose platform X has been experimenting with different artificial intelligence models to redefine user experience, was in for a surprise when a user created his anime-themed avatar using Grok Imagine.
A user generated an anime-style avatar of Elon Musk inspired by the illustration style of the popular series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, marking a unique blend of AI technology with trademark Japanese animation style. The creation was the latest of a broader trend of fans experimenting with generative AI to reinterpret celebrities through well-known pop-culture styles.
“I made this anime of @elonmusk using Grok Imagine. I illustrated it in the style of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure," the user, who goes by the name Adam Lowisz, said on X. He added a unique superpower to Musk, called ‘Optimus Universal High Income’.
“I gave Elon the stand power “Optimus Universal High Income." His power is to multiply anything his stand touches to eradicate poverty and protect humanity," he said.
Adam’s unique anime illustration received Elon Musk’s approval, who said, “These are actually my goals!"
Musk has aggressively pivoted to artificial intelligence to transform user experience on X (formerly Twitter), with Grok processing and modifying images and visual content, along with other diverse AI functions, to transform X into an all-in-one digital hub.
Last year, Musk’s xAI announced the launch of two new companions for premium users of Grok, including a Japanese anime girlfriend, Ani, a 22-year-old blond-haired Japanese anime girl who can strip down to underwear on command.
When asked about Ani, Grok said that the character has a Not Safe for Work (NSFW) mode where she may switch to a suggestive lingerie outfit and use “more provocative dialogue". The companion also has an “affection system" where conversation choices can affect whether she sends the user a heart or blushes.
However, this AI push has not come without controversy. X landed in trouble after Grok was used to generate sexualised deepfake images of women and children. The chatbot sparked international concern after it reportedly allowed users to sexualise images with simple text prompts such as “put her in a bikini" or “remove her clothes."
Earlier this month, X restricted Grok’s image generation and editing features to paying subscribers. However, the European Union launched a probe into the sexualised images of women and children.
