Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama drew laughter from world leaders by joking about US President Donald Trump’s repeated geography mistakes at the European Political Community meeting in Copenhagen. Rama’s comments, delivered during a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, referenced Trump’s past confusion between several Eastern European countries. The moment was captured on video and quickly circulated among attendees at the summit.
Rama, while smiling, told Macron, "You should make an apology to us because you didn’t congratulate us on the peace deal that President Trump made between Albania and Azerbaijan." The remark caused Macron and Aliyev to laugh, reflecting the light-hearted nature of the exchange.

Rama’s joke was a direct nod to Trump’s misstatements, which have been a point of discussion in international circles since his term as US president.
United States President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for brokering peace between "Azerbaijan and Albania," when the actual conflict involved Armenia and Azerbaijan. In a Fox News interview in September 2024, Trump stated that he ended an "unsolvable" war, mistakenly naming Albania instead of Armenia. During a press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, he also said his administration had "settled Aber-baijan and Albania."
The geographical confusion has extended beyond the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. At a recent dinner speech, Trump claimed to have ended a conflict between Cambodia and Armenia, two countries that are more than 4,000 miles apart and have not been involved in any such dispute.
