Apple's AI strategy has yet to show its results and the company has delayed its Siri AI version to 2026 because of these challenges.

Apple AI strategy has faced internal issues because they didn't see the hype

Apple and AI are looking to redeem their relationship which has started on a rocky note since last year. The company’s AI Siri push has been delayed to 2026, the company is insistent on keeping privacy at the top of its AI strategy which is fair but it might have caused issues with its main focus to compete with Google and even OpenAI.

So why has Apple struggled where its rivals are thriving and what has caused this delay at the company which has been known to be the industry leader and not the follower. The new report from Bloomberg this week talks about the issues faced by Apple and its executives to read the room around the AI hype and how they missed the train.

Not Prioritising AI

The report claims some of the senior-most Apple executives weren’t on board with the AI hype which meant the company did not prioritise before it became a hit in the market. It says Craig Federighi, the software chief at Apple did not see the value in the technology so they did not invest in AI, which has resulted in the company’s present situation.

He, along with other Apple execs, wanted to put all their eggs in the baskets that were already delivering returns for the company. Hearing this, you could sense that Apple and its chiefs were getting comfortable in their skin and that seems to have caused so much disruption because of missing out the AI train so far.

Privacy Remains Top Focus

Apple has always raised its privacy pitch, even if the company was forced to forego its policies in the EU regions because of the new laws. However, the AI shift needed a better balance with privacy somewhat taking the backseat as the technology needs data and heavy investment to become reliable, powerful and effective.

OpenAI has faced multiple copyright issues, which Apple will surely want to avoid but there are other means to make the AI tick and let it deliver smartly. The company was even forced to take down its Apple AI ads because most of them are not available in the market. Maybe it is time for AI to make it to the top of their drawing board and devise a strategy that finally lets it work.

Future AI Not Clear

Now that Apple seems to have realised its issues, will we see a new front from the brand at the next month’s WWDC 2025? Sadly, the report claims Apple will not have much to share on its Siri AI roadmap for 2026 and its focus could be limited to new features with the iOS 19 update similar to the notification summary, clean up AI tool and more.

The reports suggest that Apple’s slow moves in the AI arena were not intentional but now it seems the company would have no choice but to go slow to get it right.
