Pakistan’s army chief General Asim Munir will not attend the June 14 United States military parade. The White House has denied that any foreign military leader was invited to the event in Washington, which marks the 250th anniversary of the US armed forces and coincides with President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

Sources, though, said Munir is expected to be in the US and may meet some officials from the military there.

The 250th Army Day parade is set to proceed as a grand celebration of American military history and pride. Key highlights include:

Participation of 6,600 military personnelDisplay of 150 military vehicles and 50 helicoptersInclusion of 34 horses, 2 mules, and a military dogA fitness competition, military equipment demonstration, and musical performances

The parade is expected to kick off at 6.30 pm (ET) on Saturday and is expected to last for over an hour, broken into celebrations of the US army’s eras: the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World War I, WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the Global War on Terror, the modern army, and the future.

The parade will take place along the Mall, along Constitution Avenue NW, between 15th and 23rd streets.

This event is expected to draw thousands of spectators and serve as a patriotic rallying point for Americans nationwide. Trump will also deliver remarks later in the evening. His speech will touch on the army’s “significant achievements" and “enduring legacy".
