Wqaf Bill in Lok Sabha: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asasuddin Owaisi unstapled and teared a copy of the Waqf Amendment Bill while addressing the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
While participating in the debate over the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 in Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the Hyderabad MP attacked the BJP-led Central Government, alleging that Muslims would be treated unfairly through the Waqf Bill. He also unstapled and tore the copy of the bill as a mark to oppose the amendment.
Calling it an attack on the minorities, Owaisi said that the government has started a war on his freedom. He further claimed that the amended bill is a violation of Article 14 of the Constitution.
“This Bill is an attack on Muslims. The Modi government has started a war on my freedom. My mosques, my Dargahs, my Madrasas are on target. This government is not revealing the truth. This Bill violates Article 14- Equal Protection. Limitations will be imposed. By doing so, the encroacher will become the owner, and a non -Muslim will administrate the Waqf Board. This Bill also violates Equality For Law," he said.

Owaisi said, “Everything is the property of Hindu religion, other religions have their members on their property. But this will not happen only in Waqf. Why do you hate Muslims so much? Home Minister Amit Shah ji said that if this had happened in 2013, we would not have brought it. At that time Rajnath Sahab, Sushma Swaraj, Advani ji were present, then why did you let it pass. I am confused as to who is bigger for you, Atal, Advani or Modi ji."
Meanwhile BJP MP Jagdambika Pal said that Owaisi’s act of tearing the copy of the bill is “unconstitutional".
The Lok Sabha on Wednesday continued the debate on the contentious Waqf (Amendment) Bill, with the government resolute in pushing it forward while the Opposition standing united in denouncing it as ‘unconstitutional’.
