The incident has gone viral on social media, with many users sharing clips of the moment the filter glitched. In the video, the influencer is seen hosting a live session when the beauty filter suddenly drops. For a few seconds, her natural face appears, showing normal skin texture and a warmer skin tone.

Moments later, the filter switches back on, restoring a smooth, pale and doll-like appearance with larger eyes and a slimmer jawline.

Despite the unexpected glitch, the streamer remains calm. She gently adjusts her hair, smiles, and continues the session as if nothing unusual happened.

Several posts circulating online claim that she lost 1,40,000 followers almost immediately after the incident. While the exact number has not been officially confirmed, the claim has been widely repeated across platforms such as X and Instagram.

The video has sparked debate about the heavy use of beauty filters by online influencers. Many Chinese live-streamers broadcast for long hours on platforms such as Douyin, China’s version of TikTok. During these sessions, they interact with viewers, sing, dance, chat or promote products.

Beauty filters are commonly used to enlarge eyes, smooth skin, sharpen facial features and create a more polished look. For many influencers, such filters help boost engagement, especially among male viewers.

The viral clip has drawn strong reactions online. Some users criticised the practice of using heavy filters.

“Filters should be criminalised," one user wrote. Another commented that the filter flipped between “maid mode" and “cute mode". A third user described the incident as “literally false advertising".
