BEML wins $6.65 million Mauritius order for hydraulic excavators across African markets

State-owned BEML Ltd on Friday (August 14) said it has received an order valued at $6.65 million from Mauritius for the supply of BE220G Hydraulic Excavators for deployment across key African markets.

The equipment will be deployed across Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Côte d'Ivoire and neighbouring countries. The order will be executed in phases, with pilot deployment beginning in Sierra Leone.

Under the order, BEML will provide warranty, technical assistance, site-based service support, operator training, spare parts, specialised tools and maintenance documentation.

With the latest order, BEML's international order bookings stood at approximately $119 million as of the date of the announcement. The company said the order is in the normal course of business.

Earlier today, Hindustan Aeronautics had entered into partnerships with Adani Defence Systems and Technologies and Bharat Earth Movers (BEML) for manufacturing 90 fuselage structures for the Prachand Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), with BEML to make 48 and Adani Defence to manufacture 42.

The agreements bring private and public-sector Indian companies into the manufacture of fuselage structures for the LCH and expand the number of domestic suppliers involved in the helicopter programme.

The partnerships come as HAL prepares to begin deliveries of 156 Prachand helicopters to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Army from 2028 under contracts signed with the Ministry of Defence last year.

The agreements were signed by Tushar Ranjan Behera, General Manager, Helicopter Division, HAL, with R G K Rao, Executive Director, Aerospace & Maritime, BEML, and Prasanna Karthik, Vice-President, Adani Defence Systems and Technologies Limited (ADSTL), in the presence of senior leadership from the three companies.

Commenting on the partnerships, HAL Chairman and Managing Director Ravi K said, “This partnership marks a significant step in strengthening India’s aerospace ecosystem. For the first time, the private industry is being integrated into the production of helicopter fuselage structures.”

Ravi said the partnerships would expand capacity, strengthen the domestic supply chain and contribute to indigenous aerospace manufacturing capabilities.

Shares of BEML Ltd ended at ₹1,879.00, down by ₹32.00, or 1.67%, on the BSE.
