The 2025 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholder Meeting, scheduled for May 3, promises key insights from Warren Buffett, Greg Abel, and Ajit Jain. Ahead of the much awaited AGM, the Omaha-based conglomerate released its latest quarterly earnings and they were below estimates.
Berkshire Hathaway, the Omaha, Nebraska-based conglomerate, led by an iconic investor Warren Buffett, released the earnings for the first quarter of 2025.
After a 63% fall in net profit, the investing giant, which has interests in many sectors from manufacturing and railroads to iphone maker Apple and credit cards giant American Express, issued a warning. The tariffs and trade wars initiated by US President Donald Trump may affect the conglomerate's earnings but the statement stopped short of an estimate.
While the Buffett Indicator — the total value of the US stock market via the Wilshire 5000 Index divided by the dollar value of US gross domestic product — slid down, indicating cheaper valuations, Berkshire's own cash pile increase.
Shares of Berkshire Hathaway have gained over 19% this year so far, compared to the 3% gains in S&P 500.
