US President Donald Trump said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a “much tougher negotiator” compared to him.

US President Donald Trump admired the “negotiating" skills of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (local time) while addressing a joint press conference as the leaders held a bilateral meeting in the White House.
“He is a much tougher negotiator than me, and he is a much better negotiator than me. There is not even a contest," Trump said while addressing a joint press conference.

Trump’s comments come hours after he said India imposes heavy tariffs on American imports, while announcing reciprocal tariffs on allies and adversaries alike.
“Traditionally, India is right at the top of the pack pretty much. There are a couple of smaller countries that are actually more but India charges tremendous tariffs," he said.

“India has more tariffs than nearly any other country," he further added, according to Reuters.
“India traditionally is just about the highest tariff country, they charge more tariffs than any other country. Whatever they charge us, we are charging them".
Donald Trump had earlier also called the Indian Prime Minister a “tough negotiator" during his previous tenure in the Oval Office. He, during the Namaste Trump rally in Motera, praised PM Modi’s negotiating skills.
