The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has adopted an innovative strategy to connect with Bihari voters residing in other states for work. Approximately two crore Bihari voters live outside the state for employment purposes and insiders believe the party should engage with them and encourage them to return to Bihar to cast their votes. A dedicated team has been formed, and Bihari leaders are being sent to 75 areas across 27 states in India.
The outreach programme has begun, with Satish Chandra Dubey, MoS for coal and mining, visiting Kolkata to connect with Bihari voters. Dubey, apart from holding meetings in both North and South Kolkata, also met Chhath Puja organisers in the city. According to party insiders, the message conveyed in these meetings was a request for people to return to Bihar and witness the development brought about by the current government.
Speaking to News18, Dubey said: “There is always an emotional connect with the motherland. We are requesting our brothers to return to their roots and experience the changes under our government. It’s their homeland, and they should decide who will form the ruling government."
The outreach programme will continue until March 30. Sources indicate that a team in Bihar will maintain relationships with non-resident Biharis in other states.
There is a significant percentage of voters living outside Bihar, and BJP insiders claim that most of them support the party. Hence, all efforts are being made to ensure these voters return to Bihar for the upcoming polls.
