Blue Dart Express arm gets ₹420-crore GST demand

Blue Dart Aviation Limited, a wholly-owned arm of Blue Dart Express Limited, has been served a show-cause cum demand notice by the Commissioner of GST and Central Excise, Chennai South, alleging tax dues and input credit violations amounting to over ₹420 crore for the period April 2021 to March 2023.

The notice alleges tax dues and contraventions under the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Act, 2017, for the period April 2021 to March 2023.

Authorities have raised a demand of ₹365.58 crore, claiming GST was paid under the wrong head — IGST instead of CGST and SGST.

Additionally, ineligible input tax credit (ITC) worth ₹54.55 crore has been flagged, along with about ₹65 lakh linked to written-off materials.

The SCN also proposes recovery of interest and penalties under Sections 73, 122, and 125 of the CGST Act, 2017.

Blue Dart Aviation has been asked to file its response within 30 days.

In a regulatory filing, the company confirmed it is assessing the matter and will submit its reply within the prescribed time frame.

It added that the development is not expected to have any material impact on its financials, operations, or other activities.
