Boxing Day heist: Owner's invite to 'rob' his store sparks all-out frenzy

Teens in Australia's Perth went wild after the owner of a streetwear store encouraged people to "rob" it as part of Boxing Day sales. As soon as the store opened its shutters on Thursday, hundreds of teens pushed and shoved their way into the shop, resulting in a massive stampede.

Videos of the all-out frenzy went viral on social media, showing hundreds of teens darting towards the shop 'StreetX' in Perth. In the mayhem, several fell down and people were pictured with cuts and bruises, The Mirror reported.

Ahead of Christmas, the owner of StreetX, Daniel Bradshaw, known for his unique marketing campaigns, posted an ad asking people to come down and "rob" his store as he planned to give away hundreds of t-shirts.

His campaign surely became a hit as videos showed youngsters storming the shop, with several getting knocked over. One person was also seen wearing a bicycle helmet and shoulder pads as he jostled to enter the shop. However, reports said no one was badly injured.

Speaking about the incident, the store's owner said all the items for sale were gone in 30 seconds. "We wanted to give our customers something fun. We made the entire store free. There were 400 items to 'steal'. It was gone in 30 seconds. It was crazy," he told The West Australian.

"The police came today, and they were fine with it. Touch wood, no one got injured," Bradshaw said.

Another video on social media showed bizarre scenes inside the shop, with people drinking milk and throwing food at each other.

However, a woman posted on Instagram that her son was punched in the head during the chaos. "My son was punched in the head and had his items stolen by a young adult thug," she wrote on Instagram.

Last year too, the store did a give-away from the back of a truck.
