The Embassy of India in Tehran issued a fresh advisory on late Tuesday, urging Indian nationals to avoid non-essential travel to Iran.

The embassy cited “security-related developments over the past several weeks" and advised the Indian national to “carefully consider the evolving situation before undertaking non-essential travel to Iran."

“In view of the security-related developments over the past several weeks, Indian nationals are advised to carefully consider the evolving situation before undertaking non-essential travel to Iran," the embassy wrote.

The advisory, posted on the embassy’s official handle on X, also asked those already in Iran to remain alert and consider returning using available commercial and ferry services.

“They are also advised to continue to monitor the latest regional developments and follow updated advisories issued by the Indian authorities. Indian nationals already in Iran, and interested in leaving, may avail the commercial flight and ferry options which are available right now."

The advisory comes in the backdrop of rising regional tensions following recent military escalations involving Israel and Iran.

The tensions between both countries escalated following a June 13 Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear and military sites, which Tel Aviv said was aimed at halting nuclear weapons development — a claim Iran denies.

In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli territory.

The conflict escalated further when the US launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22. President Trump, addressing the strikes, claimed the US had “obliterated" the sites.

A ceasefire between Iran and Israel was announced on June 23, ending a 12-day escalation. However, the rhetoric from both sides, especially around Iran’s missile capabilities and nuclear ambitions, remains heated.
