A top Iranian political analyst has said there are no talks currently between Iran and the United States, adding that the Trump administration and Israel will regroup to attack the country if there is a ceasefire later.
Speaking to India Today TV, Seyed Mohammad Marandi of the University of Tehran also charged US president Donald Trump and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu of conspiring against Iran.
"Sending a letter is not a negotiation. We get messages from American leaders all the time. There are no negotiations taking place at the moment," he told India Today TV.
This comes days after Trump said that talks with Iran are showing “signs of progress” and paused strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure until April 6. While Iran has reviewed the US proposal to end the war, it has denied entering into any negotiation so far.
'THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT ECONOMIES'
Marandi, widely seen as the face of Iran in the international media, criticised Trump and Netanyahu for plunging the global economy into a crisis.
"They don't care about any economies. They don't care about the Indian economy,” he said.
He claimed that Trump has been talking about "progress" in talks in order to assuage the volatile stock market in the US. He added that the conflict will eventually weaken the US Dollar.
Interestingly, the US Dollar has risen since the war began last month, rebounding from a steep decline in 2025.
"Will America allow Israel to destroy the global economy?" he asked.
TRUMP MUST BACK OUT NOW
Marandi said that Trump must back out or face a humiliation, if the US decides to begin a land invasion of Iran.
The Washington Post reported on Saturday that the Pentagon is preparing for ground operations in Iran. However, it remains unclear whether Donald Trump will approve deploying ground troops, the report added. Meanwhile, Iran has mobilised over one million troops amid the threat of a US invasion.
"Since the 9/11 attacks, Iran always knew America would attack one day. So, Iran has been preparing itself. If there is a land invasion, America will not succeed. Iran is prepared and has been preparing for a long time," he said.
Pitching the ongoing conflict as a battle to protect its ancient civilisation, the political analyst said that Iran will fight till the US is unable to use the Persian Gulf to attack or host bases.
He claimed that Netanyahu, not Trump, has been in charge of the war since February 28, when the Israeli-US airstrikes killed former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
"Trump has surrounded himself with Israeli interests. People in Iran feel he is being misled by his team," he said.
IRAN FIRM ON REPARATIONS
Marandi reiterated Iran's call for reparations from the US once the war ends, adding that the conflict was imposed on Tehran.
"Iran will demand reparations for all the damage done by the US and its allies. For Americans, it is a war of choice. For Iranians, it is a war of survival," he said.
Speaking to India Today TV on Wednesday, Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said that the US paying reparations is one of the conditions to end the conflict.
"Billions of dollars of damage have already been incurred, and many lives have been lost. Our authorities will tally the full accounting. But any aggressor must be held accountable and pay the cost of the war," Baghaei said on March 25.
Apart from reparations, Marandi added that Iran will ensure the US does not launch wars on other countries in the future.
