A routine flight from Philadelphia to Chicago took an unexpected turn when a woman onboard stripped naked and defecated on her seat mid-flight, leaving fellow passengers in shock, the New York Post reported.
Upon receiving a complaint, police officials and a medical team rushed to Chicago’s Midway Airport on Saturday after Southwest Airlines flight 418 landed.
According to reports, the woman had removed her clothes and defecated on her seat, forcing the airline to pull the aircraft out of service for several hours for thorough cleaning.
Addressing the incident, Southwest Airlines issued a statement saying, “Nothing is more important to Southwest than the safety of our customers and employees, and we appreciate the professionalism of our flight crew," as reported by News from the Wings.
The airline further said, “Our teams are reaching out to those onboard to apologise for the situation and any delay to their travel planes.”
It remains unclear what actions authorities took against the passenger after the flight's arrival.
In a bizarre coincidence, a similar incident occurred last month when another Southwest passenger stripped naked during a flight.
