Dow Jones Today | US Stock Market LIVE Updates: US stocks resumed their decline on Thursday after a brief one-day respite, as escalating concerns over the Iran conflict pushed oil prices sharply higher and rattled investor sentiment.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 1,124 points, or 2.3%, while the S&P 500 dropped 1.4% and the Nasdaq Composite slipped 1.3%. The sell-off was led by cyclical stocks such as Boeing and Caterpillar, which are seen as particularly vulnerable if rising energy prices slow global economic growth.

Oil prices spiked after Iran claimed it had struck an oil tanker with a missile, intensifying fears of further disruption to global energy supplies. West Texas Intermediate crude futures jumped around 8% to trade above $80 per barrel — their highest level since January 2025. Meanwhile, global benchmark Brent crude rose about 5% to trade above $85 per barrel.

The latest move comes after oil prices had stabilised in the previous session, helping the Dow recover more than 200 points on Wednesday. Despite that brief pause, crude has surged sharply this week, with WTI climbing more than 20% and Brent advancing roughly 18% amid mounting geopolitical tensions.
