A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan on Wednesday night, days after a 5.8 quake hit the region. Pakistan's fault-line position makes it highly prone to frequent and damaging earthquakes. According to the Center for Seismology (NCS) the mild earthquake struck Pakistan at around 10 pm on Wednesday.
The tremor occurred at 21:58:26 IST, with its epicentre located at latitude 31.08N and longitude 68.84E. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 50 kilometres.
On April 12, an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 on the Richter Scale jolted Pakistan on Saturday. According to the NCS, the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10km, making it susceptible to aftershocks.
Pakistan is among the most seismically active countries, as it sits atop multiple major fault lines. This geological positioning makes the region highly prone to frequent and often destructive earthquakes. Throughout its history, Pakistan has experienced significant seismic events, leading to widespread damage and loss of life.
