After Israel launched a surprise strike on Iran last week, targeting nuclear facilities and eliminating top Iranian officials, tensions have escalated in both countries, putting the lives of Indian nationals at risk.
Hours after the Israeli attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and briefed him on the situation. During the call, PM Modi shared India’s concerns with Netanyahu and emphasized the need for early restoration of peace and stability in the region.
Later, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to his Israeli and Iranian counterparts regarding the situation.

India has said it enjoys close and friendly relations with both countries and stands ready to extend all possible support. India has urged both sides to avoid any escalatory steps and utilise existing channels of dialogue and diplomacy to work towards a de-escalation of the situation and resolving underlying issues.

Advisories June 13 – The Day of Israeli Attack On Iran
Decades of proxy wars resulted in an Israeli attack on Iran on June 13 morning (local time). Hours after the strikes, the Government of India responded swiftly, with Indian embassies in both nations advising all Indian nationals in the region to exercise caution, remain safe, and follow local security advisories.
In a statement on June 13, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “We are deeply concerned at the recent developments between Iran and Israel. We are closely monitoring the evolving situation, including reports related to attacks on nuclear sites… Our Missions in both countries are in contact with the Indian community. All Indian nationals in the region are advised to exercise caution, stay safe and follow local security advisories."

Evacuation From Iran Begins – June 16
India on Monday began the evacuation of its citizens from Iran. The first batch of 110 Indian nationals have safely crossed into Armenia. They will fly to Delhi on Wednesday.
According to a report in India Today, around 10,000 Indian students are stranded in Iran.
