The world leaders paid their heartfelt tribute to former US President Jimmy Carter, who died at the age of 100 at his home in Georgia’s Plains on Sunday, describing him as an “extraordinary leader and statesman."
Several eminent figures, including Joe Biden, Donald Trump, the Clintons and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, reflected on his journey and contributions to peace, democracy and social justice.
In a statement, outgoing US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden said, “Today, America and the world lost an extraordinary leader, statesman and humanitarian."
“Over six decades, we had the honour of calling Jimmy Carter a dear friend. But, what’s extraordinary about Jimmy Carter, though, is that millions of people throughout America and the world who never met him thought of him as a dear friend as well," they added.

For the incoming US President Donald Trump, Americans owe Carter “a debt of gratitude." Remembering his rich legacy, Trump said, “The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country, and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans."
“Melania and I are thinking warmly of the Carter Family and their loved ones during this difficult time. We urge everyone to keep them in their hearts and prayers," he added.
The Clintons Pay Tribute To Carter
Former President Bill Clinton, a Southern Democrat like Carter, said his predecessor had “worked tirelessly for a better, fairer world."
In an official statement, Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, said, “Hillary and I mourn the passing of President Jimmy Carter and give thanks for his long, good life. Guided by his faith, President Carter lived to serve others — until the very end."
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer highlighted Carter’s strong faith and values, which defined his tenure as US President. He acknowledged Carter’s key role in brokering the Camp David Accords and his lifelong dedication to human rights and social justice.
“His presidency will be remembered for the historic Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, and it was that lifelong dedication to peace that saw him receive the Nobel Peace Prize," Starmed said,
French President Emmanuel Macron also consoled the death of Carter and described the latter as an advocate for the “rights of the most vulnerable."
“Throughout his life, Jimmy Carter has been a steadfast advocate for the rights of the most vulnerable and has tirelessly fought for peace. France sends its heartfelt thoughts to his family and the American people," Macron was quoted as saying by news agency Reuters.
