The man, who blew up the Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, had boasted to his ex-girlfriend about renting the vehicle, claiming he felt like Batman.

Matthew Livelsberger, the man behind the blast that injured seven people on Wednesday, was identified as a US Army soldier. He had shot himself in the mouth before detonating the bomb in the vehicle, an incident that the Tesla owner described as an “act of terrorism".

That is not a battery fire. That is an explosive device placed in a Cybertruck in front of a Trump hotel.

Clearly a message is being sent to Elon and President Trump.

Man Texts Ex-Girlfriend

Three days before the incident, the soldier had playfully reached out to his ex-girlfriend, Alicia Arritt, at 9 am when he was in Denver on December 29, New York Post reported.

He texted her days after he left his Colorado Springs home as his wife confronted him for his alleged cheating.

“I rented a Tesla Cybertruck. It’s the s–t," Livelsberger said in the text message, New York Post reported.

“I feel like Batman or halo," he said in another text seven minutes later.

Batman, the iconic DC Comics superhero, is renowned for his cutting-edge gadgets and the legendary Batmobile—a symbol of power, ingenuity, and intrigue.

Arritt did not expect to hear from the man who had since married and had a child after their breakup in 2021. She said that it was nice to hear from Livelsberger and added that he had sent numerous more messages adding pictures and videos of the Tesla truck.

As the truck caught her attention, she asked how fast it goes. “Ungodly," he responded.

‘Building Drones In New Position’: Bomber Tells Ex

The man told Arritt what he had been up to, however, did not give away his plan to blow up explosives outside the Trump Hotel.

“I’m building drones in my new position," he said. “You would love it."

Arritt described Livelsberger as the “kindest man" she ever knew and recalled how he once bought his sick mother a new home.

The soldier’s wife had parted ways with him on December 26 after she discovered he was cheating on her, New York Post reported, citing sources.

After an argument with his wife at their home in Colorado Springs, where she accused him of cheating, Livelsberger left the house, sources said. He then used the Turo app to rent a Cybertruck and drove to Las Vegas. Once there, he parked the truck, loaded with explosives, in the valet area of the Trump Hotel and took his own life by shooting himself in the head, New York Post reported.

Elon Musk Reacts To Explosion

Tesla founder Elon Musk termed the explosion as a “act of terrorism", which followed a rampage by a truck driver in New Orleans, killing 15 people, hours before the Tesla vehicle blast.

“The explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself", Musk said on X.

“The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards. Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken," Musk added.
